March 20, 2006 R.I.P. Humphrey, the Downing Street cat
The black and white stray wandered into 10 Downing Street in 1989 when
it was occupied by then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. He 'retired'
in 1997 and was believed to be 18 years old when he died some time last
week at the home of a civil servant. (Our employees of the feline
persuasion asked us to post this.)
