Aug. 27, 2006 The Joy of Reading
A wonderful article about introducing children to the wonder of books and the joys of reading. As one that doesn't have children, I've noticed that cats don't seem to get past the babies and toddlers stage mentioned in the article with very occasional forays into the books as tunnels, preschooler realm.

Aug. 22, 2006 The 2006 Quills Awards nominees announced
The Quills celebrates the best books of the year in nineteen popular categories, ranging from romance to biography to graphic novels. Maya Angelou, Diana Gabaldon, Frank McCourt, Elizabeth Peters, and Lauren Willig are among those with books nominated this year. A link to vote for your favourites, as well as information about the awards and the nominated books located at the date link above. The awards will be presented on October 10 and the ceremony will be broadcast by NBC in the US on October 28.

Aug. 19, 2006 Children's book centre celebrates its first birthday
Seven Stories, the Centre for Children's Books, is housed in a Grade II-listed former Victorian granary in Newcastle. It aims to explore and celebrate children's literature by collecting and preserving the original artwork and manuscripts of Britain's modern writers and illustrators.
